Again, Olycon 2011 held at UM Malang

Malang - The East Java Regional Chairman of Muhammadiyah, again, held the International Conference and Olympiad (Olycon) at UMM Dome. This annual event was opened by the Secretary of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu'thi, M.Ed, on Saturday (5/14).

Chief of the committee, Ir Lukito Prasetyo, MT, explained that the Olycon, actually, had already been started on Friday (5/13). The agenda on that first day were futsal and self-defense competition. But the main event would be started on Saturday. "The opening ceremony is at UMM Dome, while the competition will be at GKB I and GKB II," said Lukito.

About 3.600 students of elementary schools, junior high schools, senior high schools, and vocational schools and 600 teachers in East Java took part in this event. Some of them had already arrived at UMM to join the olympiad. They would compete on the Math, Science, Arabic, and AIK competition.

The event was attended by the UNESCO Education Expert Prof. Dr. Arief Rahman, Prof. Dr. Baedhowi, and Dr. Muhadjir Effendy. It was then followed by a talkshow with the AMINEF Executive Director Michel E. McCoy, the Program Manager of Education Quality and Governance Bia Puspita, and the UNESA Rector Prof. Dr. Muchlas Samani. There would be supporting events presented by some Muhammadiyah schools and launching of Pioneer Program Majelis Dikdasmen PWM Jatim. It was closed by Prof. Dr. Syafiq A Mughny.
