MUHAMMADIYAH.ID, JAKARTA - A book, entitled “Mengenang Sang Guru Politik Prof. Dr. Bahtiar Effendy, M.A.”, was launched at Muhammadiyah Office, Jakarta on Monday (10/2).
In his remark, General Chairman of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir recalled Bachtiar Effendy as an academician, an expert of Islamic politics in Indonesia, and a person devoting himself to benefits of Muslims.
“His political recommendations have played huge roles. When he passed away, he was on the process on formulating strategies of Islamic politics and the quiddity. We lost him,” remembered Haedar.
Besides, Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Hidayat Nur Wahid recognized that Bachtiar Effendy committed to the development and establishment a program of Islamic Politics in a number of educational institutions.
Meanwhile, in his speech, Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan saw Bachtiar Effendy as a critical person standing for Muslims and criticizing issues objectively.
“Who talks about Islamic politics should read Bachtiar’s writing because he has qualified language articulation and analyses,” declared Anies.
Additionally, the book was published by Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta Press and comprises of 39 memories of various politicians and activists toward Bachtiar Effendy, Chairman of Muhammadiyah, passing away on 21 November 2019.
Editor in Chief Ma’mun Murod Barbasy stated that the book publication is a part of Muhammadiyah’s literacy tradition began since the passing of Kyai Hasyim Muzadi by publishing a book entitled “Takziah Muhammadiyah untuk K.H. A. Hasyim Muzadi.”
“This book is to appreciate him. Now a team of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is writing a book about Kyai Yunahar Ilyas and Gus Sholah,” told Ma’mun.
