King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals ( KFUPM) was found in 1963 in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The university is for male students only. KFUPM now has S2/S3 cprogram onsisted of Doctoral ( PhD.) and Master of Science ( MS.) programs and some other graduate programs ( MBA, MACC., and MEng.).
Language of instruction is English and student is not claimed to have Arabic linguistic competence. Students come from various countries. There are many activities like seminar, workshop or short course.

Acceptance of new student is done at Spring Semester (February) and Fall Semester (September). Bundle of application can be sent during the year but at least it is sent in semester before the wanted semester.
Position of RA or Lecturer-B includes university staff and they obtain some facilities, among others:
* first departure and leaving tickets
* free cost of study and text book
* monthly salary (SR 1.000 for RA; SR 2.500 for Lecturer-B)
* paid leave during 30 days per year
* dormitory (two students in one room)
Lecturer-B can have house allowance SR 8.000 per year if bringing family and living outside campus
* free medical services in campus Medical Centre and there is 50% subsidy for the drugs
* subsidy at student restaurant
RA/Lecturer- B can also join for funded project and get income SR 500 per month. Funded project coming from Research Institute of KFUPM or institution outside KFUPM can reach up to SR 1.000 per month. As a apart of funded project, RA/Lecturer- B also has opportunity to publish work in national or international journal or seminar. There are institutions which cooperate with KFUPM in research such as Saudi Aramco (the biggest oil comoany in the world), SABIC (the biggest public company in Suadi Arabia), Saudi Telecom Company, and King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology.
RA/Lecturer- B is responsible to help departemen or university related to oparational matters. The task often given is teaching practicuum or S1 class, monitoring exam, administration duties and so on. Thus, there's a kind of job contract between student and KFUPM. The contract needs to be signed before departure. Almost all S2/S3 students (non-part time) from outside Saudi Arabia have this status.

Generally, the requirments are:
* Meeting trhe requirement of Deanship of Graduate Studies (look at http://www.kfupm.edu.sa/gs/admissions.htm):
o Graduating from S1 (4 year-program) for S2 or graduating from S2 for S3 program
o GPA >= 3.0 (except for MBA >= 2.50) for S2 or >= 3.20 for S3
o Adequate GRE score (GRE subject is maybe asked for several programs)
o International TOEFL
- 190 CBT (520 PBT) for S2
- 210 CBT (550 PBT) for S3
- 4.0 for writing component (or TWE)
o Recommendation letter for three lecturers (format is on registration form)

International TOEFL and GRE can be delayed if student candidates have excellent academic achievment.
Please communicate your intention to apply to your department. The communication is not a part of registration, but it is important so that application process is not delayed at the Deanship of Graduate Studies because of there is no TOEFL an/or GRE file. Every department is possibel to have diffareant policies related to this matter.
Recommendation letter is supposed to be directly sent or included along togehter with the sending application:
* every recommendations lettera are placed in separate envelope and glued (1 letter 1 envelope)
* Ask the lecture who gives recommendation letter to sign on the envelope flap as the seal and ask for the stamp from the faculty on the seal.
After the files have been received by KFUPM, the applicants will receive a letter explained about the files acceptance and shortage files (if any). There is also reference number used on Admission Tracking System:
