Motivating Cadre: Chairman of MPR RI Dr. (HC) Zulkifli Hasan, keynote speaker in National Seminar of Muhammadiyah Cadre, on Friday (15/5). He advised that Muhammadiyah cadre should own ability, competence, and sufficient relationship.

“Whenever we would like to succeed democracy, it should rather concern on ethics and morality, prioritizing discussion and cooperation. We have to see Muhammadiyah,” said Chairman of People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) Dr. (HC) Zulkifli Hasan, M.M in National Seminar of Muhammadiyah Cadre on Friday (15/5) in Theater Dome, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). In his keynote speech, the former of Forestry Minister, who currently serves as General Chairman of PAN, told his party’s condition as the congress was held.

“We defines our political sight as one vote for one person. Otherwise, it can be called democracy. Everyone would like to win,” he said. Apparently, Zulkifli continued, Indonesia’s democracy covered four basic consensuses: Pancasila, UUD 45, deliberation, and mutual cooperation. “We should never forget about moral and ethical aspects,” said him.

Despite numerous political phenomena happened in our country, adding, he stated that Indonesia had been in a right path. “We have to pass this phase by solving many problems so that our future democracy will be related to Indonesia’s cultures,” he explained.

To be realized, Muhamamdiyah cadres should own many things. “Cadre should own ability, competence, and sufficient relationship,” said him as closing his keynote speech themed “Perkembangan Politik Indonesia”.

Meanwhile, Hajriyanto Y. Thohari in his first panel seminar themed “Perkembangan Politik Indonesia dan Tantangan Muhammadiyah” explained that Indonesia was the only country successfully passing transitional era: democracy consolidation. “Indonesia is a lucky country. We have to see Middle East countries undergoing Arab Spring. Many have been failed passing this such transition era,” said Hajriyanto.

Indonesia, according to him, has sufficient requirements to be developed country. “The only requirement is to ruin feudalism in both government and society,” said him. Democracy should become a tool to welfare society. Currently, Indonesia stays in party-democracy era: multi-parties system and high-cost politic.

“It will challenge Muhammadiyah for we have recognized Indonesia as the largest Muslim majority. Its image and reputation lie on Muslims,” he added. Muhammadiyah, moreover, should alternatively regard that Politic does not necessarily talk about party. “Preparing cadres for other things than politic. Muhammadiyah should yield many intellectuals in various discipline studies: science, journalism, mubaliqh, and the like. Moreover, there should be cadre intensification through Autonomous Organization. Eventually, it should be completely done through cadre extension in tertiary education level,” he confirmed.

Besides these two speakers, Head of Cadre Education of Muhammadiyah (PP) Central Council Asep Pernama Bahtiar, M.Si also delivered his speech in the same panel seminar moderated by Dean of Social and Political Studies (FISIP) UMM Dr. Asep Nurjaman. For the second panel, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP, Prof. Dr. Syafiq A. Mughni, and Dr. Biyanto would become speakers in seminar themed “Pengembangan Jaringan dan Perkaderan Berbasis AUM” moderated by Pradana Boy ZTF, Ph.D.

In third panel, held on Saturday (16/5), themed “Telaah atas Model Perkaderan Muhammadiyah: Perspektif Ideologis” would be delivered by Nur Cholis Huda, M.Si, Dr. Achmad Norma Permata, and Dr. Latipun moderated by Hidayatullah E, M.Si.
