UMM Support Malang as A Halal Tourism City

The cooperation between University of Muhammadiyah Malang and Department of Tourism and Culture (Disbudpar) of Malang held a Halal Bazaar on the 3.5 floor courtyard of Joint Lecture Building (GKB) 1 UMM Campus 3 on Monday (12/11) morning. The students and people were enthusiastic choosing various products on display. The event was opened when the Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji, cut the ribbon.

All halal products, ranging fromm household needs to food enliven this day’s bazaar. On this occasion, the Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji with UMM Rector, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd officially opened this Halal Bazaar 2018. “UMM as a higher education suupports Malang program as Halal Tourism City,” said Fauzan in his speech.

Besides halal-certified UMKM, this event was also followed by lectures and students who has a halal-certified brand products. Sutiaji praised many times the halal products produced by UMM students and lectures. He highly appreciated UMM’s step which in line with the vision of Halal Tourism City, especially on the acquisition of UMM-guided UMKM as the best performers at the National Santri Day exhibition.

This event also collaborated among Disbudpar and Assistance in the Way of Good Processed Food Production (CPPOB), Halal Certification and Halal Technology Guidance, “This cooperation is conducted beacuse the UMM initiation established Halal Center,” said Sutiaji. In addition, Sutiaji mentioned that Government’s seriousness in this project is also realized by preparing Halal Market which will be built in Klojen shortly..

Dr.Ir.Elfi Anis Saati, MP, as the head of UMM Halal Center explained that the initiation of UMM Halal Center was begun since 200. In 2016, it was renamed into UMM Halal Center. UMM Halal Center helped UMKM through submitting service to Kemenristekdikti. Since 2015, UMM Halal Center had been involved in preparing many products such as cosmetics and other products to obtain halal certification.

Besides Halal Bazaar, it was also held a technical guidance (bimtek) for business people who wish to apply certification. Held in UMM Auditorium, Bimtek provided further guidance for entrepreneurs who wish to obtain halal certification. The Board of Food, Drug and Cosmetic Assesment of Indonesia Ulama Council (LPPOM MUI) and Halal Tourism Acceleration Team of Indonesia Ministry of Tourism attended as the the speakers.
