UMM and 7 World Universities Examined Their Lecturer Modern Competence

As a form of strengtheninginternationalrecognition, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) spread their wings in the international world by participating in examining the lecturer modern competence with a number of world universities. From the involved eight universities, UMM becomes the only Indonesian and even Asian delegation for Modern Competences of Academic Teachers (MOCAT) Project.

 “MOCAT Project was internationalcooperation of universities from different countries to develop a sustainable solution together which improve the quality of education in the university. This project is by means of a modern development method, tools, andmaterial for academic staff in the fieldof teaching methodology,” explained by Vice Chancellor I UMM Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Si. in his office, Friday (22/3).

The involved seven universities in this international academic partnership program which are WBS University of Poland, Kütahya Dumlupınar Üniversity of Turkey, Kenyatta University of Kenya, SpluHaret University of Romania, the Universityof Georgia from Georgia, University of Akureyri of Iceland, and University of Salerno of Italy. While the project manager of this project was Lucyna Sobkowiak from WBS University.

Syamsul continued, the purpose of this project was nothing else to develop the knowledge and sharing the experience of 8 associated universities, also the development and implementation of the lecturer competency model. Including the training material for 10 online and mixed module, which the use of it will encourage the methodological competence, teaching, and the multicultural of the university teaching staff.

The departure Syamsul to the University of Salerno (UNISA) in Italy a view days ago was nothing else to formulate a sustainable solution together in developing the quality of education in the university. “Periodically, the UMM formulation team will visit the associated university which will be the host of this formulating various tool needed to run this project,” he said.

The departure of UMM team are including the preparation of a multicultural competency model academic teacher; development of the scope of detailed teaching and multicultural competencies of an academic teacher, and teaching result, lesson material scope, andmethodology work structure - online and mixed modules; preparing training content; and ended with an international conferences and workshops.
