National Santri Day on today (22/10), Culture and Tourism Office of Malang is holding Halal Exhibition started at 8 in the morning at Malang City Hall. University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) through Halal Center collaborated with UD.Latanza takes a part in this exhibition by selling halal products.
UD. Latanza is a small and medium enterprises (SME) managed by Trinuk Kurniawati that produces seasonings, snacks, etc which is marketed in Java and Bali.
Surprisingly, Halal Center UMM becomes the best 5 performers; others are Ubud Hotel, Brawijaya Edupark, Kampung Biru and Trifle. Trinuk said, “Our products have wider market and are trusted by costumers. Thanks to Halal Center UMM that has been accompanying us to get Halal certificate”.
The Chief of Halal Center UMM, Dr. Ir. Elfi Anis Saati, MP revealed that Halal Center UMM was initiated since 2008. At that time, it was still known as Halal Study Center in Technology of Agriculture Product or now it is known as Food Science and Study Program. In 2016, it changed into Halal Center UMM and is aimed to help SMEs to propose engagement to the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
Furtherore, Elvi revealed that at first, Halal Center UMM only escorted foods to get halal certificate. But, since 2015 Halal Center UMM escorted many things, such as cosmetics and so on. “Of course, it needs many preparations to get halal certification. That’s why, we escort SMEs to prepare it all”.
