Three students of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) passed Emtek Goes To Campus (EGTC) National News Presenter Competition, they are Mar’atun Sholikhah, Agnis Addini and Bertia Salma Mentari. They competed with 125 participants for three days. First day, it was Big 25. Second day, it was Big 10, and the last day was The Best 5. Those three students and other two will compete with 5 finalists from 5 cities, Semarang, Malang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung.
David Rizal, a reporter and presenter of Liputan 6 SCTV who was an alumnus of Communication department, Faculty of Social and Political Science UMM conveyed, “On the Day 1, the participants were free to choose the material they are going to report. Day two and three, we gave them material and they compete in the main stage”.
There are several criteria that must be completed by the participants, such as good looking, skill in presenting and live report, and insight. “The Best 5 will compete on national competition”.
One of the finalists, Mar’atun Sholikhah or Ika revealed that the key of her success is never give up. She even admitted that she had joined this competition five times. “I had joined this competition for five times since I was in the second semester”. Agnia, another finalist admitted, “I slept at 1 in the midnight because I was worried that I couldn’t compete with other participants”.
Since 1997, Emtek Goes To Campus (previously was SCTV Goes to Campus) had been held at campuses in Indonesia. This year, EGTC News Presenter Competition was held at UMM for three days (25-27/9). The participants are not only from Malang but also from several cities in East Java such as Surabaya and Kediri. (lus)
