Chosen, Nanda UMM HI Students Becomes the VIP and VVIP 2018 Asian Games Protocoler

The pride of 2018 Asian Games is not only felt by the athletes who have won in various sports but also felt by Nanda Aulia Dini, a student of International Relations Study Program (HI) of UMM who was chosen to help the 2018 Asian Games success in the Venue Protocol Attendence Division.

In this division, Nanda, is responsible to welcome the VIP and VVIP guests. In addition, Nanda must also ensure the completeness of flags in indoor and outdoor locations as well as the national anthem for the medal procession.

"So far, even though I have to learn a lot of things but I feel happy to be able to take part in the international scale event. Moreover, as long as I become a volunteer, I can get to know more about the athletes who are fighting for the country and also important people whom I can't meet out there," she said, Thursday (8/30).

Starting from the beginning to today, Nanda claimed to have been able to meet many national and international figures, including Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, Indonesian Vice President, Yusuf Kalla, and TNI Commander, Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto. She did not want to waste the opportunity, she also took advantage of this opportunity to introduce her belove campus, UMM.

"Because I was assigned in the VIP area so I could talk directly with several important guests from Indonesia and other countries. So, when they started to talk about the college where I study and so on, I could tell about UMM at the same time," she added.

In view of the recruitment process undertaken, Nanda claimed that to be succeed becoming a volunteer she had to go through a long process since last December 2017. "Initially, when I registered, I’m not sure to pass the administrative selection but then I was called to Jakarta for the interview," she recalled.

After being declared qualified, Nanda still had to take part in a series of trainings when she was already in the field, starting from basic knowledge about organizations related to sports and Asian Games, International Etiquette, Communication Skills and various knowledge related to tourism in Indonesia.

"Because the ones whom my friends and I would meet were came from various countries, we had to prepare ourselves as well as possible. So, we could really help them while promoting Indonesian tourism," she explained.

Generally acknowledge, countries in Asia, especially Indonesia, are currently holding a sports party in the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang from 18 August to 2 September. For the success of the event, the Asian Games committee received 13,000 Indonesian youth volunteers both in Jakarta and Palembang. Nanda is one of them.

At the end, Nanda hopes that her participation in this event can add to and enhance the experience. So, she can use it in the future. "I consider this as an opportunity to upgrade the experience on an international scale," she concluded. (ard)
