Shofiyah Nur Yustina, UMM Karate Athlete Competing in Italy

On January 24, Shofiyah Nur Yustina, a student at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) will compete in the 2019 International Cup event that was held by Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) in Italy. He will be one of the Indonesian delegates in this prestigious world Karate event.

The student of Management Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, who is familiarly called Shofi, told her training process ahead of the event which followed from 12 countries. In the preparation period, time became a challenge for her because at the same timeit was also the final semester examination.

Previously, when he was in the 3rd grade of high school, Shofi had participated in this competition. But at that time he was only 17 years old, Shofi competed in the junior class. "Now the preparation is harder because I am now entering the senior class. So the opponents are the national athletes of each country, "she said.

For three months, Shofi intensely practised raising grade and karate techniques. Netherlands, Japan and of course the host of Italy will be the toughest opponent. When asked about the maturity of her preparation, Shofi answered that she was ready one hundred per cent. "Haqqul Yaqin God willing, must win," she said.

According to Shofi, every process must be enjoyed. Not only in karate, in other activities, Shofi hoped that all the preparations she had made, can get the best results. It can also carry the name of Indonesia and UMM famous in the international arena. Shofi had to undergo training centre.

Frendy Aru Fantiro, M.Pd, UMM Inkado Karate Counselor divided the Shofi training process briefly. "Before leaving, Shofi entered the training centre. There will be trained with all the delegates," explained Frendy, UKM UKM Karate Advisor who is a lecturer in the Teacher Training and Education Faculty. (Win)
