“Tak ada manusia yang terlahir sempurna. Jangan kau sesali semua yang telah terjadi (there is no humans who were born perfectly. Do not regret all the happened things)”.
Above is the sample of song lyrics sung by one of student with visual disability from SMPN 2 Lawang accompanied by a band performed by his own friends. With his disability, he was able to prove that he also had a talent which deserves respect like others.
The performance of the visual disability student was one of the amusements in the National Seminar: Producing Professional and Humane Educators for the Next Generation Based on Inclusive Education. This seminar was organized by the Association of Department Student (HMJ) of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), in theater room of UMM Dome, Thursday (5/6).
Executive Chairman, Abdul Mujib, said that inclusive education has been included into one particular course of PGSD Department, different from other universities. "Thus, HMJ of PGSD felt that the seminar was needed in order to broaden society’s knowledge especially student’s knowledge related to inclusive education," said Mujib. The excellence was what HMJ of PGSD wanted to show to public.
The seminar presented four speakers who were used to be involved in inclusive education, namely Drs. Sujarwanto, M. Pd (Vice Dean I of FIP Unesa Surabaya), Ahsan Romadlon Junaidi (a teacher at a school for disable people “Pembina Nasional of Malang” and also as a freelance lecturer at Faculty of Psychology of UMM), Dr. Arif Budi Wurianto, M.Si and Dra. Kustiatun Widianingsih, M.Phil, SNE (Working Group Team for Inclusive Education of East Java and also a lecturer of Inclusive Education Developer Team at PGSD of UMM).
Article I of the regulations of the Minister of National Education Republic of Indonesia No.70 Year of 2009 on Inclusive Education for students with abnormalities and students with special intelligence potency and or special talent stated that what is meant by inclusive education is a system of education that provides opportunities for all students with abnormalities and with special intelligence potency of intelligence and or special talent to take part in education or learn in an educational environment together with other normal learners. Meanwhile, Article 2 stated that one of the purposes of inclusive education is realizing education which respects diversity and does not discriminate learners.
The participants of the seminar were 280 people consisting of PGSD students of UMM, university students of Malang Raya, Lecturer, Elementary School Teacher of Malang Raya and also the general public. UMM Rector, Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP and Dean of FKIP, Drs. Fauzan, M. Pd also attended the seminar. Beside the band performance of one of inclusive school SMP Negeri 2 Lawang, the event was also enlivened by the performance of PGSD student choir. (trs/nas/t_alf)
