Welcoming a Graduation: LK UMM Raises Art and Culture Night

Culture Institution of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (LK UMM) create a leading innovation. For adding our nation culture valuables and appreciation, LK will start creating a tradition for Art and Cultural Expression Night (Maksidaya), on Friday night (27/2) in UMM Helipad. According to plan, this performance will be held in every graduation.

Chief committee, Rahmad Sudibjo, S.P, M.P stated that this performance was aimed to welcome family guest of graduates and impress them before undergoing graduation ceremony in the next day. “InsyaAllah it will be held in every graduation,” said him.

Adding, he also explained that it would entertain family guest before attending the graduation ceremony. The performance themed “Multi-coloured Fascinating Nation Cultures” will present acoustic music, dance, and theatre. “We give wide opportunity for students to perform in this event. Indeed, they could introduce their local culture,” said Pulung optimistically.

There will be many Student’s Activity Units (UKM) participating this event such as: Dance Unit, Student’s Band Association (Ikabama), UMM Radio FM, and UMM Theatre Units. “There will be Student’s Choir (PSM) performance from Gita Surya which has won The ITB Competition, poetry performance from Student’s Association (HMJ) of Bahasa Indonesia Bahtera, Sociology theatrical, dances from students of Primary Teacher Education Department (PGSD), painting exhibition from UKM Lentera, and photo exhibition from UKM Photography Focus,” he added.

As leading phase, this culture event was aimed to attract university public and people surrounding. In a future, Pulung added, this event would cooperate with Culture and Tourism Department, artists, and famous culturalists. It would be also opened for public so that UMM would regard as centre of culture appreciation. “It is also aimed to entertain UMM Inn guests,” he continued.

Committee would provide many local dishes such as: cassava, taro, peanuts, and many others. This event would start from 7.00 p.m. – 10.00 p.m. and officially be opened by UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP. So, Let’s be there. (zul/nas/t_stu)
