The chair of the Committee, Luguh Wasono explained, the Barongan festival was shown to promote the Barong cultural arts to be preserved. It also was done to enhance the creativity of human art and culture, create communication and good relations between artists. He hoped this activity can become an annual event.

The individual Barong Competition was participated by 44 participants from all regions of Malang Regency. Interestingly, the competition this time was not only attended by men but also women and children. This proved that Barongan art did not limit the gender and age of the players.

This art reflected populist traits, spontaneity, family, and simplicity. It also showed the nature of the rough, hard, compact, and courage based on truth. Players wore costumes that resemble Singo Barong as a disguised form of a four-legged creature or two with a lion's head.

Besides Barong, this festival also held anti-drug gymnastics with students of SDN 4 Kedungsalam. After that, it was continued with Lien Tien Kung's gymnastics and a kindergarten coloring contest and Early Childhood Education (PAUD) level participated by 287 participants.
