The 1st Annual Conference of Applied Islamic Psychology dan The 5th Inter-Islamic University Conference on Psychology (IIUCP) is held at University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) for two days, Saturday and Sunday (October 20-21, 2018. IIUCP is a conference which the participants are the universities joined in the Islamic Psychology Association (API).
Adhyatman Prabowo, M.Psi., Psikolog a Psychology lecturer of UMM as well as the chief of ceremony revealed that this is the first time for Psychology UMM becomes the host of IIUCP since this event has been held for five years. “UMM is a member of API. So, this is the time for UMM holding the conference’.
“The main purpose why this event held is, to strengthen the connection and the bond among Islamic universities in Indonesia that the principle is to combine psychology and Islamic perspective. It is expected that Psychology can go with Islamic perspective”.
By taking a theme “Islamic Psychology Answers the Challenge of Modern Civilization”, this conference is attended by the representatives from State Islamic University of Imam Bonjol Padang, Islamic University of Indonesia, Islamic University of Bandung, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, State Islamic University od Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, Ahmad Dahlan University, and University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The main speaker is Hanan Dover, a clinical and forensic psychologist from Sydney as well as the vice president of the Association of International Moslem Psychologist. Furthermore, there is also a paper presentation presented by the participants who have sent their research proposals. Then, on the next day (21/10), there is a workshop presented by 3 speakers about the perspective of Pychology and Islam.
The event is officially opened by the speech delivered by Vice Rector I UMM, Prof.Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Si and the Dean of Faculty of Psychology, M. Salis Yuniardi, M.Psi., Ph.D., Psikolog. After that, API Award is handed to Pro. Dr. Abdul Mujib and the late Dr. Yado Purwanto, Psikolo as ones of the founders of API who have influence in the development of Islamic Psychology. (lus)
