Based on an evaluation conducted by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia on 18 November, the library of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) managed to maintain the accreditation title with very good grades (A). The UMM library has been accredited A since 2015.
Head of UMM Library Dr. Asep Nurjaman, M.Si. said, UMM library focused on student services. This is in order to carry out the priorities and main objectives in supporting the implementation of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi which is implementing education, research, and service.
"Because of the staff commitment and supported by the leadership in order to develop library institutions, both in terms of religiosity, education and increasing the interest of reading, the Library of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang can maintain their A accreditation," said Asep on Thursday (11/5).
No doubt, the entry of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era demanded the library to adjust. That's where, the UMM Library complements all instruments, both infrastructure and human resources to be superior. Namely, the presence of a digital library that refers more to the UMM institutional repository.
The provided facilities of this library are arguably very complete. Namely as a literacy center supporting the making of thesis and research on campus in the form of e-journals and e-books. It also provided additional rooms such as the American Corner, Aussie Corner, and other corners in collaboration.
In addition to the various corners of institutions and countries that have collaborated with the White Campus, there is also a Recreation Corner for refreshing. "So that,we provide a good atmosphere that still makes students and staff enjoy to go back to the library," said Asep.
In addition, in order to maintain the privacy and security of visitors, the library routinely organizes a Technical Guidance program (BIMTEK) which includes a book loan program with an automatic service library system (laser), PIN and PIC activation to access the internet with the campus internal network.
UMM Library has 4 floors which are equipped with thousands of books with 10 categories namely general works, Philosophy and Psychology, Religion, Social Sciences, Language, Science, Technology, Art and Recreation, Literature, History and Earth Sciences. It is because the existing book category has already passed through weeding and research data.
Asep continued, with all the availability of competent facilities and human resources (HR), the achievement of accreditation obtained by the UMM Library was not difficult. "Love the library. With that, you can see the beauty of the equator by opening a window of the world," said Asep. (joh)
