Celebrating Hardiknas, UMM Rector reminds The Importance of Moral Standing

Speech: UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy as giving a speech in National Education Day Ceremony followed by all faculties, staffs, and students, on Saturday (2/5). 

Rector of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP asked all faculties and staffs to improve their qualification and professionalism.

            Within his speech in National Education Day (Hardiknas) Ceremony, on Saturday (2/5) at UMM Helipad, he asked to strengthen benchmarking and cooperate with all universities in ASEAN countries as strategic partner.

            “Without ASEAN Economy Community (AEC), UMM could still go international. Yet, through this AEC, we would strengthen our network among all universities in ASEAN countries in order to improve the quality of human resources,” said him as being met after ceremony.

            Besides improving both qualification and professionalism, all faculties and staffs were asked to concern on behavior, moral, and working ethics. “Someone could not merely be recognized through his competency and professionalism. More important, we have to see him in terms of his personality,” he added.

            Therefore, adding, through benchmarking among similar universities in ASEAN countries, UMM could recognize the competitors. “Through this way, we could improve our qualification with other universities in ASEAN countries,” said Muhadjir.

            In the ceremony, he also announced names of faculties, staffs, and students who received awards for having served university for 25 years and gave 1.5 million rupiahs for National Education Support. Accordingly, it was the first time for UMM to give the support for all faculties and staffs.

            “I also aim at Student’s Admission Unit to provide 20.000 applicants in this year despite the fact that we merely pass no more than 7.000 applicants. It will be an indicator of society trust towards UMM,” he ended.

            He hoped all faculties, staffs, and students could give their best for university. (zul/han/t_stu)
