A new student application of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has opened in regular admission. It was officially opened by Technical Unit of Student Admission (UPT UMB) through a first admission starting from Monday (9/3). Accordingly, first admission will be closed at May 9th, 2015 and continued by written test at May 11th, 2015.

Head of UPT PMB UMM, Dr. Ermanu Azizulhakim, MT, explained that there would be 3 admissions in regular way. After the first admission, the second one would be opened during May 14th to August 1st, and followed by the third admission during August 6th to August 29th, 2015.

“We open this admission earlier for those who intentionally enroll as student in UMM. Commonly, it covers immense number of applicants and therefore necessarily be anticipated earlier as well,” said Ermanu.

Previously, since last January PMB UMM has opened Invited admission for those having great achievement whether in terms of academic or extra-curricular. This admission will be closed at April 10th, 2015. By now, this admission has reached 1.800 applicants. It is expected to reach 5.000 applicants by the end of the admission. An advantage of this admission covers free payment of first semester unless for Faculty of Health Studies, which covers half-free payment.

“We take approximately 25% from all passed students through this such admission. Therefore, those who do not pass this admission could apply in regular admission,” he added.

In another occasion, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP, explained that public has concerned on quality rather than status, either state or private. They would seek for many references related to great university. Adding, he also said that the increase of applicants in each year presented the greater trust from public to UMM. Thereby, last year UMM passed 7.400 fresh students, adding more students than what should be expected.

“To anticipate the increase of students, UMM is currently constructing 9-floor Lecturing Building and a new parking lot as well as open stage for art and culture appreciation,” said rector.

Ermanu added that this year UMM had applied student’s online registration unless for written and interview tests. Hence, the applicant might do online-registration, print the test ID by himself and validate it through mail before attending the test. It would ease applicants outside Java to directly enroll this admission.

Since beginning, PMB has promoted this admission to many districts for strengthening the applicant’s interest. Despite having been known by all students throughout Indonesia, this promotion is still necessarily conducted to respond any questions related to UMM. This year promotion concerns on applicants outside Java such as: applicants from Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, and other cities. PMB UMM also gave national award for schools contributing to UMM, such as: Balikpapan, Samarinda, Banjarmasin, Sumbawa, and other cities.

“The greater number of students we achieve, the greater admission we apply. Through this admission, the applicant would be through such tight selections related to department he enroll into. In other words, this admission concerns on accreditation quality rather than status, either state or private university,” ended Ermanu as explaining that public could access the detail information of this admission in website (ger/zul/han/nas/t_stu)
