Networking Dinner with Campus in United States Expands International Networking of Muhammadiyah Universities

Delegation of Muhammadiyah Universities and universities in the US took a picture together after the networking dinner.

After holding United States Education Exhibition in the morning, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) and General Consulate of United States held a Networking Dinner on Wednesday (14/9). The event was attended by delegations of 17 campuses from United States and channeling scholarship. UMM also invited rectors and vice rectors of Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) from some cities and provinces.

Some delegates of Muhammadiyah Universities were from Muhammadiyah University of Mataram, Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu, Muhammadiyah University of Palu, Pro.Hamka Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta, Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto, Muhammadiyah University of Gresik, Muhammadiyah University of Jember, Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo, Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo, Muhammadiyah University of Madiun, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya, and a delegate of teacher training and science education institute (IKIP) PGRI Madiun.

Rector of UMM, Fauzan, said that, this networking dinner was a chance for Muhammadiyah Universities to expand international networking, especially with campuses and institutions in United States. “This event is a very good chance to develop bilateral cooperation “.

Fauzan continued, there are some schemes that can be collaborated with US campuses, such as sending lecturers from Muhammadiyah Universities to US. “the delegates are from US, so we can directly discuss about the planning and the models of cooperation”.

Meanwhile, United States General Consulate of Surabaya, Heather Variava said that, she is very welcome to discuss about cooperation with Muhammadiyah Universities leaders who attended networking dinner.” UMM has been collaborated with us for a long time, one of the cooperation is preparing US Peace Corps volunteers for language and cultures”.

According to Education USA Advising Center UMM staff, Zaki Zulkarnain, UMM had been cooperating with some campuses and institutions in America. Also, UMM has already had Education USA Center and American Corner office as information center and a partnership networking. Those were the evidences how strong the relation between US Embassy and UMM. (rin/han)
