Forestry Student Invites to Care of Environment through Photos

OTHERWISE: Student are looking at photos of nature destruction that held by Forestry Department UMM, Monday (30/3)  

Many ways to express environmental awareness, one of it is through photography. It was conducted by some student of Forestry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry (FPP), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), in two days, Monday and Tuesday (30-31/3), located at floor 3,5 Public Lectures Building (GKB)I, photo exhibition was held themed “Hutan Kita Masa Depan Kita”.

“This event is a form of warning for student in order to realize the important to maintain the forest,” said the chief of committee, Hamdan Mahmud. He explained, the day after exhibition will be held tree planting action around campus.

Series of activities that also to commemorate International Forest Day March 21 was purposed to protect, maintain, and keep Green Open Space/Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH), especially in UMM. “Starting from campus area, so the awareness of student to the green environment will be increased,” he said.

Student awareness to destruction of nature one of it was documented through photos work of Falahi Mubarok who participated in that activity. Student of Forestry Study Program UMM who has hobby of photography was often shoot destruction of nature that he found. One of his photos was located at the mining of limestone in Lamongan, East Java.  

In his photo, it was shown forest destruction due to excessive mining. “In fact that behind of beauty, many also destruction in our nation,” he said. Through his hobby in photography, Falahi wants to deliver that people should be more aware to the forest.

Series of event is in line with the concept of UMM as tourism campus. The biodiversity that found around the campus must be maintained. The movement of “Go Green Go Clean” that promoted by UMM will realize the comfortable campus, fun, and enlightening. This movement also supported by conservation area that owned by UMM, example organic apple orchard, Sengon forest, agriculture plaza and others.  (dar/zul/han/t_zuh)
