Cultural Institution Holds Workshop on Strategic Plan of Work Program

            On Wednesday (7/21), Prof. Dr. Ir. Sujono M. Kes. gave briefing and opened event Workshop of Strategic Plan Arrangement and Work Program organized by the Cultural Institution (LK), University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The workshop which lasted a day and held at the hall of at the 1st floor of the mosque discussed strategic plans and work programs to be run by LK for next ten year-period (2010-2020).

            LK goal is becoming source of reference for the national cultures which are not only focuses on the cultures of art, but also pay attention to various aspects of existing cultures. "For short term, the activity is directed to the academic community of UMM as a main target in the formation of a civilized campus environment just like the existing brands outside," said Prof. Dr. Sugiarti, M. Si, as Head of LK, in her speech. Meanwhile, for the medium term and long term, LK of UMM should be able to step outside the campus environment to tap the cultural values that exist in society.

            In addition,the work program was divided into three divisions. Firstly, it is the division of scientific studies and journals, which are coordinated by Drs. Agus Purwadi, M.Ag. This division will manage and publish a scientific journal related to culture and also conduct scientific studies related to cultural issues. Secondly, Culture Conservation Division and Performing Arts is coordinated by Ir. Rahmat Pulung Sudibjo, MP. Thirdly, it is a division of Culture and Tourism Development. One program focus of this division is the development of campus tour that includes cultural, academic and religious aspects in the form of activities such as selecting tourism ambassador and providing tourist information centers at UMM. All these activities which will be carried out by LK will synergize with all academic community on campus, involving tourism stakeholders and relevant agencies. trs/jss/t_alf
