Two teams of Mechatronics Team and Srikandi Team from University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) are going to join Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE) 2018 at State University of Padang on November 27th to December 1st. Last year, UMM team joined Shell Eco-Marathon in Singapore and got the Big Four position .
This event is held by Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Furthermore, Mechatronics team is reckoning on Genetro Suryo U.E.V 06 for Electric Car while the Srikandi team is reckoning on Hrusangkali Evo 01 for Gasoline Internal Combustion Motor (MPD). This year, the two teams target to get the Big Three position.
Muhammad Jufry, as the coach of the team conveyed, “We did not consider wind as an influencing factor. But now, we are considering it because it can block the speed. That’s why we change the body of the car totally so it can have maximum speed”.
Jufry conveyed that all preparation has been done both administratively and technically. “Reflecting to our experience, now we know that wind is a factor that should be considered. We’ve prepared all things smoothly somehow, I hope that we can get the Big 3 position”.
The driver of Genetro Surya U.E.V 06, Renggi Ahmad Rimeldi stated that he found a little difficulty in driving the car, “It’s difficult to adjust the brakes”. In order to adjust the brakes maximally, Genetro Surya U.E.V 06 should run in maximum speed. Moreover, Renggi and his teammates have found the solution to solve this problem. (lus)
