APPROACHING the day of simultaneous local election (Pilkada) on 19 regions of East Java on Desember 9 2015, the dissemination of election ethical code is one thing that is need to be considered. According to the Chief of Honorary Council of Election Organizer (DKPP) Prof. Jimly Asshidiqie, the dissemination is important to organize since it is able to guarantee the Pilkada with ethics and honesty.
DKPP as the upholder of ethical code should put serious concern on the implementation of simultaneous Pilkada. Not all of the provinces got visited by the DKPP, but East Java is one that is visited since it is recorded as a province with many districts participating the agenda. “East Java is one of the biggest provinces in Indonesia having many districts participating the simultaneous Pilkada. We chose the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) as the place to hold the dissemination,” said Jimly.
According to the Vice rector II UMM Fauzan, a university is the right place to hold the dissemination of election ethical code. “Beside its neutrality, a university provides events that are accessible for lecturers and students, and thus the spread of information is more effective,” said Fauzan.
The event themed ‘Etika dalam Kehidupan Berbangsa dan Bernegara’. There were also the Governor of East Java Saifullah Yusuf, the Mayor of Malang Moch. Anton, the representative of General Election Commicion of Indonesia (KPU) and the Election Suppervisory Commitee (Panwaslu) of East Java.
The next agenda of DKPP was the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) held in Ijen Suite Hotel on Wednesday (7/10). In this agenda, the problems of Pilkada in East Java were discussed.
“Hopefully this simultaneous Pilkada will be good for people,” said Saifullah yusuf. (dik/han/t_far)
