ILYAS MASUDIN, ST., MLogSCM., Ph.D., a lecturer of Industrial Engineering Department of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) becomes the first lecture who obtained a title as ASEAN Engineer. The license was obtained by Ilyas when he joint the 36th conference of The ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 36) in Singapore on November 12-14, 2018.
CAFEO 36 confirmed the appreciation to all Indonesian engineers from industrial field and educational institution. He got the license trhough passing several selections by Indonesia Engineers Association (PII). One of them was the involvement of prospective delegates in several projects within two years.
“In this competition, I’ve been selected in several parts and the most important thing was having a project that has been done,” he explained. Meanwhile, the alumnus of TI UMM has became the part of three big projects related to industrial engineer, namely Industrial System Optimation.
The man who have completed his doctoral degree in the field of Logistics in Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT University), submitted three proposals of his research, namely Microhydro Management, community service, and Halal Logistics project which collaborated with one of educational institutions in Australia
The certification was able to be the way to open cooperation for UMM, especially for Engineer Professional Education Department (PSPPI) with ASEAN parties. This recognizition strengthens UMM legitimatimacy to run the PSPPI.
UMM as one of universities which was entrusted by governmenet through the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Decree Number 200/KPT/I/2017 concerning the Opening of Engineer Professional Education Department.
“PSPPI aims to support government program while meeting the needs of engineering professionals which is in line with the mandate of Law No. 11 of 2014 concerning Engineering," explained Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Sc., Vice Rector I who leads Academic fields.
UMM held a PSPPI Department, continued Syamsul, to produce professional human resources and support five economic pilars of ASEAN economic Community (MEA/AEC). (ard)
