For the Study Program (Prodi) of Government Science (IP) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), publishing book seems not only tradition of lecturer but also student.
Recently, Yudi Kurniawan, Prodi IP alumnus last March published a book entitled "The Dynamics of Governance, Politics, and Local Economy: The Political Process in Discourse of Expansion of Madura Province".
"The New Autonomous Region (DOB) expansion discourse that was born from the policy of regional autonomy is a very important issue to observe the dynamics of local government, politics and economic development, especially for the people in the region," said the author who was the third best graduates of Prodi Science of Government in 2017.
In the 190-page book, the man who was born in Sumenep regency discusses the background of the emergence of the expansion discourse in Madura Province, the group's roles as a discussion forum on the expansion discourse in Madura Province, regional autonomy as the rationale of society, and the condition and development of the district in Madura.
"Regional expansion was born on the initiative of people who feel less attention than the Government especially for areas that have strong cultural values and abundant natural wealth, which it cannot be enjoyed by the people themselves," said Yudi. The book of Yudi's prime works can be found in all bookstores in Indonesia.
Head of Prodi Science Government, Salahuddin, S.I.P., M.Si, M.P.A. explained, this student's final assignment becomes Prodi's strategy to publish the final assignment of students to the public. In addition, the book is also used as a means of imaging Prodi alumnus in their respective regions.
"With the publication of this book, we have proven that UMM Government Department of Education graduates are eligible to be placed anywhere, especially in accordance with the field of study. That's the basis of this program," Salahuddin explained.
Furthermore, the Prodi will work on a number of other books with themes around the village governance system, the dynamics of local politics, as well as local governance. (ard)
