|Regeneration: ILF annually recruits new members.|
Dozens of achievements earned by Student’s Activities Units (UKM) in University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM); one of which is UKM International Language Forum (ILF) UMM.
Established since 2001, ILF has led many students to achieve many awards in regional, national, and even international competition. In last year, for example, ILF delegation has become semifinalist of Jogja Debating Forum Open Debate Tournament 2015, winner and runner-up in Maliki National Debate Tournament 2014, runner-up in ESP Open Debate Tournament Brawijaya University 2014, top 10 breaking team in Jogja Debating Forum Open Debate Tournament, and last semifinalist in English Fiesta UMM 2014.
ILF has also yielded international-level outcomes. One of them is Wan Oktavina Ekawati who has achieved award in Canada, Cambodia, and Thailand. While in IFL, Wan ever became adjudicator debate in State University of Malang (UM) and currently becomes ILF trainer in public speaking.
International achievements of Wan, which are becoming delegation of Indonesia-Canada Youth Exchange Program in Canada last 2011, joining Peace Conference held in Cambodia last 2013, and becoming delegation of ASEAN Youth Exchange in Thailand last year, were due to her experiences in ILF.
Vice Chief of ILF Alhamdu Ramadhan explained that Rector Cup was great competition to develop any talent and interest before competing in both national and international competition.
This year, he added, Rector Cup has chosen theme “Speak Up for a Better Indonesia”. Through this risen theme, all participants were demanded to be aware of national issues. “There are three categories in speech: education, politics, and environment while for debate: religion, education, and politics,” he explained.
In Rector Cup held during March 21st – 22nd, 2015, all winners earned guidance fund as well as certificate from Student Bureau. (nis/zul/han/t_stu)
