Eid al-Adha, UMM Distributes 2200 Sacrifice Meat Packets

           The tradition of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in organizing slaughter of sacrificial animals during Eid al-Adha continued. This year, UMM again collected the savings of staffs and lecturers which were deducted from monthly salary for the sacrifice. As in the previous years, the voluntary savings accounts were managed by the committee to buy sacrificial animals either cow or goat to be distributed then to the beneficiary.

           Chairman of the Committee for Eid al Adha 1430 H, Ir. Nur Subhi, MT, said that until now the savings of the staffs and lecturers could gather 11 cows and 14 goats. That was not including the number of sacrificial animals managed by staffs and lecturers who took their savings. That number also would continue to grow because of the delivery of sacrificial animals directly without saving was also opened. "Usually we get a significant addition in the last two days. The rest, there would a lot donations also from corporate sponsors, individuals and campus partners," says Subhi.

           The sacrificial animals would be slaughtered the day after the Id prayers on Saturday (11/28). While the slaughter of sacrificial animals and the distribution would be deploy on Campus II and III. There were also animal demanded by Muhammadiyah branch managers for the surrounding areas. All would be divided into packets with total number of about 2200 packets. "The committee distributed coupons to people in need and must be redeemed at the time of taking the meat later on," continued the lecturer of mechanical engineering related to the distribution for an orderly way.

           Furthermore, Subhi explained, the committee did not limit the sacrifices form employees and lecturers which was self-managed. They took the money savings in the Bureau of Finance to further buy sacrificial animals and distribute the meat in their place of residence. "There were also those who collected money and then bought a cow to be distributed around the village," says Subhi.

           Meanwhile, Eid al-Adha pray would be held on Friday (11/37) in two places, Campus II Jl. Sumbersari and Campus III Jl Raya Tlogomas. On Campus III, who acted as preachers was Ahsanul In'am, PhD and on Campus II was Drs. Abdul Haris, MA. Both of them were lecturers of UMM. Prayer would be begun at 6:00 am. (zpd/t_alf)
