Ten foreign students coming from Netherland, Morocco, Egypt, Russia, and Vietnam take a part of entrepreneur revolution themed “Entrevolution” held by Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques at Commerciales (AIESEC) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The grand launching of Entrevolution, one of national program of AIESEC Indonesia, was held in Aula of General Administration Bureau (BAU) UMM, Thursday (2/7).
Those ten students will directly get involved in community to work on entrepreneurship projects in art, education, and community service. “For 3 months, they will observe three small and medium entrepreneurs (UKM) in Malang and recommend them several things: management, marketing, technical, and others,” said Drs. Soeparto, M.Pd, the Assistant Rector of International Relations.
Meanwhile, Chief Department of Career Development for Students and Alumni (PKMA) UMM, Dr. Fien Zulfikarijah, M.M fully supports the projects proposed by AIESEC. “Actually, PKMA has many entrepreneurship programs for students and alumni. However, it’s the first time for us to collaborate with AIESEC to realize it,” she said.
Adding, she told that Indonesian entrepreneurs merely reach 1 percent. “It should be 2.5 percent, ideally, to be developed country. Malaysia reaches 4.5 percent, and Singapore indeed has reached 7 percent. Indonesia has bigger chance to grow compared to those countries,” informed Fien.
Entrevolution covers series of activities: Ledpreneur, Charity, Exchange Master Class, Liveware Seminar, Visit SME, Visit School, Global Village Expo, and Entre Goes to Village. This program was officially opened by Chief Department of PKMA and Chief Committee of Entrevolution Launching. “Hopefully, it leads to a better community,” ended local committee of AIESEC UMM, Ivan Ahsanul Insan.
