The rise of violence cases and moral degradation, especially those involving children, is a particular concern. One of them is Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) through the Directorate of Family Education which specifically focuses on family education, including on how to educate children from fetus to adulthood.
As we know, today's parents are faced with a wide range of parenting options. They are also confused by the very fast-changing behavior of children. At its peak, many parents are more entrusted the development character of the children to educational institutions.
The phenomenon was criticized by Advisor of Dharma Wanita Kemendikbud, Suryan Widati Muhadjir Effendy. She regretted to the families who fully surrendered the guidance of children's education to educational institutions.
"If we have assumed that education is a school, then it is wrong," explained Suryan Widati on the event entitled National Resilience Dialogue Departure from Family Resilience on Saturday (24/02) at Senate Meeting Room (RSS) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) .
On the same occasion, it was affirmed by Chairman of Dharma Pertiwi, Nanny Hadi Tjahjanto, who conveyed that a mother is the main pillar of the family.
"Mother is the pole of a family," she argued.
As a woman and mother, Nanny insisted that women must be strong to be able to educate their children who will become the next generation of the nation.
In addition, parents especially mothers, must also be dare to follow the times. Thus, the proper parenting pattern can be applied and there will be no resistance from the child.
"Parents today must update with developments in the social environment," she said.
