The Division of Nature Lovers Studentsof the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM DIMPA) would once again hold the DIMPA Boat Race Challenge #4 at the level of equivalent high school students throughout Indonesia. This national agenda would be held on 17-18 April 2020. Carrying the theme "Arungi Jamu Mudamu", the competition consisted of three categories namely the male category, the female category and the mixed category.
Yusril Khasib Anvasa as the chief executive of the event stated at the holding of the third Boat Race in 2018, DIMPA UMM only held it at Malang Raya level. At that time, the event was attended by 34 teams consisting of Nature Lovers Students at high school level (Sispala), Nature Lovers Students at the college level (Mapala), and Nature Lovers Organizations (OPA).In 2020, hundreds of participants from all over Indonesia will be targeted.
"Various types of adventure sports today continue to develop and increase interest among young people. One of them is water sports using a rubber boat media. This is based on a sense of awareness about the richness of the diverse river waters and protecting the environment and as a way to test dexterity and adrenaline, "Yusril said, Monday (1/20).
Furthermore, Yusril said, the world of rafting in Indonesia was undergoing development. Evidenced by the many rafting communities and special rafting divisions in nature lovers organizations and communities. "Coupled with the formation of the Indonesian Rafting Federation (FAJI) which participated in building the world of white water rafting," continued Yusril.
Yusril hoped that the conducting of this competition could help build the growth of the rafting tourism industry that spurred the emergence of interests of various community groups to enjoy rafting. "It's unfortunate because this sport is only known by a handful of people. It is hoped that with this activity it can introduce rafting sports to the general public to be more widely known, "Yusril said.
The competition would be held at the lake Campus III UMM. Earlier in October 2019, the lake was intended for the National Unmanned Fast Boat Contest (KKCTBN). At that time, UMM was specifically entrusted by the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education as the host of this prestigious national level event.
