Two Muhammadiyah Universities visited University of Muhammadiyah Malang on Thursday (16/4). They are STIKES Muhammadiyah Kudus and University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (Umsida). Both these universities held study tour related to management development.
STIKES team led by Rusnoto, SKM, M.Kes (Epid) was welcomed by Vice Rector I UMM, Prof. Dr. Bambang Widagdo, M.M, Head of Academic Administration Bureau Dr. Dwi Priyo Utomo, Dean of Health Science Yotok Bekti, Head of Public Relation Nasrullah, and his secretary Rina Wahyu.
Meanwhile, Umsida team led by Vice Rector III Hendarto was welcomed by Head of Student Affairs Bureau Abdullah Masmuh, Expert Staff of Vice Rector III Joko Widagdo, Head of International Relation Dr. Abd. Haris, M.A, and Head of Public Relation Nasrullah.
Rusnoto explained that this study tour was due to his initiative while meeting UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP in an event in Makassar. UMM was the best university to learn about management development.
“We want to develop STIKES into university. Therefore, we need many information from UMM,” said Rusnoto.
There are three things becoming main concern of STIKES: university management, hospital establishment, and business development.
Vice Rector I UMM explained UMM history and those three affairs. “Besides those things, academic affairs should not be half-developed. Instead, we have to fully concern about it. We have to provide best service for students for they are our main promotion,” said Bambang.
In other occasion, Vice Rector III Umsida intentionally wanted to learn about collaboration development, student management, and university imaging. As university located in near province capital, Umsida should concern on collaboration development.
“We have to learn from UMM which has already owned great International relationship,” said Hendarto.
In terms of Public Relations, Umsida wants to widen public promotion. Thereby, UMM as well-known benchmark is the best place to learn about it.
“Promotion and publication were established through many media, yet the most important thing is valuable information. For example, we have tagline “dari Muhammadiyah untuk bangsa” and thereby we try to create another line-characteristic such as “Jas Merah Kampus Putih”. These such things we concern the most,” explained Nasrullah.
Adding, as Muhammadiyah university, UMM should also own strong branding. Therefore, it should be defined its distinction in terms of positioning and packaging. “Great product should be well-packed. The most important thing, it should be different from other products,” ended him. (zul/nas/t_stu)
