At work, the public speaking ability has become primarily required. It is very needed in almost every area of the work.

Therefore, Diploma 3-Mangement of Financialand Bankingof FacultyEconomic and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a public speaking competition for D3-Mangement of Financialand Bankingin GKB IV UMM Hall, Thursday (20/12)



The head of laboratory Syariah bank D3-Mangement of Financialand Banking, Eris Tri Kurniawati, S.E., M.M., Ak. statedthat70% of the coursesin this department arepractices.

Public speaking skill is one of the importantsupport of the wholepractice coursesbecausein the professional level, graduates of D3-Mangement of Financialand Bankingwill be required to have this skills,”Eris said.

The categorieswhich were competedwerespeech competition, Presenter, Master of Ceremony and Moderator. The categorieswouldbe divided into English and Indonesian Language.

One of the juries, who is also a Video Journalist and Reporter of KompasTV, Shinta Maulidya, claimedto be surprised with the quality of all participantsin every category.

To master public speaking skill, it isneededtime and intensify practice. Moreover, for the students who do not have the basic journalist or communication knowledge, it would be needed more times,” shinta said.

Public speaking, continued Shinta, is not only identic with students of journalist and communication studies,but also the fact that public speaking ability is very important.

One of the participants, Lila Denayu Yustian, feltvery happy with this competition as a series of the end of this course. Accordingto her, this could be one of motivation for the students to be more competitive.

“ the ability of public speaking  that I get at the collage should be balanced with the practice to get a big impact to my public speaking ability,” she said. (meg)
